Adorador, Robles power Chery Tiggo to secure playoff berth

Chery Tiggo fired on all cylinders to withstand a tough challenge from Farm Fresh, securing a 29-27, 15-25, 25-22, 25-21 victory in the play-in round of Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday, March 11, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Shaya Adorador and Cess Robles played pivotal roles in Chery Tiggo’s win, steering the Crossovers to a quarterfinal spot and setting up a best-of-three quarterfinal clash with reigning champions Creamline.

Adorador led the charge with 16 points, while Robles contributed 15, combining for a total of 31 points.

Both players showcased their defensive prowess as well, recording 13 excellent digs each. Adorador also registered 11 excellent receptions, while Robles added nine.

Despite holding a 2-1 set lead, Chery Tiggo faced strong resistance in the fourth set as Farm Fresh fought back to tie the score at 16-all.

“We’re happy because, although we had a setback in the second set, we still worked hard and pushed through in the following sets,” said Ara Galang, who led the team with 20 points from 16 attacks, three blocks, and an ace.

“You can also see how strong our team is in situations like that. It’s important that we continue to be tested because the quarterfinals won’t be easy,” added the La Salle product, earning the Best Player of the Game award.

Galang gave the Crossovers a three-point cushion at 19-16, but veteran Rachel Daquis kept the Foxies within striking distance, trimming the gap to 19-18.

Chery Tiggo responded with a crucial 4-2 run, fueled by attacks from Seth Rodriguez and Adorador, extending their lead to 23-20.

Adorador then sealed the win for the Crossovers. After committing an attack error, she quickly redeemed herself with back-to-back points—first with a block, followed by a through-the-block hit—to close out the set, 25-21.
