Savi Davison sparks PLDT to dominant win over Queensland Pirates

The PLDT High Speed Hitters opened their 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League campaign in a dominant fashion, sweeping Australia’s Queensland Pirates, 25-19, 25-12, 25-12, on Sunday, April 20, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Leading the charge was Savi Davison, who delivered a stellar all-around performance that earned her Player of the Match honors.

The dynamic outside hitter tallied 14 attack points while also contributing eight excellent digs and three excellent receptions, showcasing her two-way prowess in PLDT’s dominant debut.

The Queensland Pirates seized early control with a fiery 6-1 run to open the match, dictating the pace and putting PLDT on the back foot. However, momentum quickly shifted when Wilma Salas delivered a clutch service ace, sparking a turning point that ignited the High Speed Hitters' comeback.

From there, the Filipino team never looked back.

Salas and Mika Reyes chipped in with 11 and 10 markers, respectively, complementing Davison’s dominant outing.

PLDT returns to action on Tuesday, April 22, when they take on Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima QminC in a pivotal group stage showdown.
