The Akari Chargers took down the Nxled Chameleons to remain perfect in the Premier League Volleyball (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Thursday, August 13, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

Akari moved just a win away from securing the top seed and sweeping the preliminary round despite an opening set loss to sister team Nxled, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-18.

“All the games I think are all the same. Ever since, the first set is very weak and today, it happened again. We really need to fix it if we are going to be a champion team because now we are lucky,” said Akari head coach Taka Minowa.

American wing spiker Oly Okaro generated 30 points on 28 attacks, a block, and an ace to keep the Chargers’ perfect 7-0 standing, while Ivy Lacsina chipped in 19 markers, 17 of which came from kills.

Gretchel Soltones had another all-around performance of nine points and 13 excellent digs, while Camille Victoria had seven.

Team captain and playmaker Michelle Cobb, who earned Player of the Game nod, poured 18 excellent sets to go along with nine big points for Akari.

On the other hand, the Chameleons dropped to a 1-6 ranking.

The Akari Chargers will look to continue its unblemished streak when they face off against Farm Fresh on Tuesday, August 20, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre, while the Nxled Chameleons will look to bounce back against Cignal on the same game date and venue.
