Jazareno earns Best Libero as PH bags SEA V.League bronze

Justine Jazareno emerged as the Philippines’ lone awardee in the second leg of the 2025 SEA Women’s V.League, capturing the Best Libero award on Sunday night — her first international recognition.

The Akari defensive ace anchored Alas Pilipinas’ floor defense against Southeast Asia’s top squads, helping the team secure a bronze medal for the second straight leg with a 25-17, 25-17, 28-26 win over Indonesia in their final match.

Jazareno’s award also extended the country’s streak of producing at least one individual honoree in five consecutive legs. She shared the spotlight with teammate Angel Canino, who won Best Outside Spiker in Leg 1.

Other awardees included Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (MVP, Best Opposite Spiker), Vi Thi Nhu Quynh (Best Outside Spiker), Tran Thi Bich Thuy (Best Middle Blocker), and Thailand’s Pornpun Guedpard (Best Setter), Chatchu-on Moksri (Best Outside Spiker), and Thanapan Wimonrat (Best Middle Blocker).

Vietnam also ended Thailand’s six-year dominance in the tournament by pulling off a dramatic reverse sweep, 17-25, 24-26, 25-17, 25-22, 16-14, in the gold medal match — their first-ever SEA V.League title.
