Davison’s 28-point explosion powers PLDT to PVL on Tour semis
Savi Davison returned from a brief personal break in spectacular fashion, spearheading undefeated PLDT’s march to the 2025 PVL on Tour knockout semifinals with a dominant 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 sweep of ZUS Coffee at the PhilSports Arena on Thursday, August 7.
The Filipino-Canadian standout was in peak form in her first full game back, erupting for 28 points on a sizzling 50% attack efficiency. She hammered 25 kills in 50 attempts, added two blocks and an ace, and anchored the reception line with 10 excellent takes.
“I think overall, it’s just the environment that the girls are able to give me. I feel comfortable, I feel confident with them by my side. So a huge thanks for them supporting me, whether I’m here, whether I’m elsewhere. But just the welcome back feels good,” said Davison.
Veteran setter Kim Fajardo steered the offense with 19 excellent sets, while Jovy Prado backed Davison’s heroics with 10 points and six digs and Kianna Dy chipped in eight markers. Kath Arado patrolled the floor with 14 digs and 10 excellent receptions to keep the defense airtight.
With the victory, PLDT secured its first semifinal appearance since the 2024 Reinforced Conference and stands as the league’s lone unbeaten team with a perfect 6-0 record.
The High Speed Hitters now await the winner of the Creamline–Farm Fresh knockout quarterfinal scheduled for Saturday, August 9, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
