Alas Pilipinas volleybelles defeat foes to kick off Asian beach volley tilt

After defeating their respective opponents on Wednesday morning, November 6, at the Nuvali Sand Courts in the City of Santa Rosa, Laguna, the Alas Pilipinas beach volleybelles swept an impressive start at the Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships.

The Philippines’ campaign began with Sofiah Pagara and Khylem Progella defeating Shaunna Polley and Olivia MacDonald of New Zealand, 21-19, 21-18.

Meanwhile, Yekaterina Ryukhova and Anastassiya Ukolova of Kazakhstan were then repelled by the Air Force pair Gen Eslapor and Kly Orillaneda, 21-19, 21-13.

Pagara and Progella will head back to the beaches at 3:20 pm against Australians Jasmine Fleming and Elizabeth Alchin, followed by Eslapor and Orillaneda taking on Tanarattha Udomchavee and Rumaipruet Numwong of Thailand at 4:10 pm as the Filipina duos seek for 2-0 records on the first day.

It comes after two Philippine teams suffered straight set losses yesterday, November 5, during the qualifiers.
