Ivy Lacsina powers Akari past Nxled for fourth win in PVL AFC

Ivy Lacsina took on the charge of leading the Akari Chargers’ to ensure its victory over the listless Nxled Chameleons, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-18, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Thursday, January 23, at the Philsports Arena.

Lacsina assumed the scoring duties and made sure to deliver Akari’s bounce back win after team captain Michelle Cobb was stretched off the court due to a neck injury in the second set. She was immediately taken to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan.

The Chargers managed to stay focused on the game and fended off the Chameleons to regain their winning streak in spite of everything else.

The 25-year-old opposite hitter managed to deliver an output of 17 points on 14 attacks, one block, and two aces.

“We draw out strength from Ate Mich because of course this game is for her,” Lacsina said during the post-game press conference. "We kept our focus as part of the culture that we’ve built and from our coach’s teachings.”

Aside from Lacsina, Eli Soyud and Faith Nisperos were also instrumental in Akari’s win, both chipping in 15 apiece.

“Mich wants us to play us one and win the game today for the team’s conference so we pushed harder and we draw strength from that,” Soyud said.

Kamille Cal also stepped up in Cobb’s absence, putting up 12 excellent sets, while Justine Jazareno finished with 11 excellent receptions in her second game with the team.

Akari will aim to secure their fifth win when they battle the Capital1 Solar Spikers on February 1 at the same venue.
