Jovelyn Gonzaga signs with ZUS Coffee ahead of All-Filipino Conference
Veteran winger Jovelyn Gonzaga joined ZUS Coffee, marking her eagerly awaited comeback to the professional ranks ahead of the next Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.
The Thunderbelles officially revealed the news on Tuesday, October 15, in a social media post, adding Gonzaga’s experience to a team full of young players.
"OFFICIAL: Welcome to the ZUS family, @bionic_ilongga!" the post read.
The 32-year-old seasoned opposite hitter is set to make her 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference debut in November, coinciding with the much-awaited arrival of Alas Pilipinas middle blocker Thea Gagate, ZUS Coffee’s first overall pick in the first Rookie Draft.
Gonzaga, who is renowned for her leadership and illustrious career, offers a lot of experience that might be extremely beneficial to ZUS Coffee. She is anticipated to be a valuable addition to their next campaign, having won multiple awards during her volleyball career.
In its initial appearance in the PVL, ZUS Coffee — then known as Strong Group Athletics — went 0-8 in the previous Reinforced Conference and 0-11 in the 2024 All-Filipino tournament, and they have yet to win a professional match.
The former MVP of the Philippine Super Liga will join hands with Gagate as they attempt to help ZUS Coffee raise its standings at the upcoming conference after the team finished 12th in this year's Reinforced tilt.
