Lady Spikers join inaugural PVL Draft

Several DLSU Lady Spikers are set to make their way to the PVL

Several De La Salle University Lady Spikers are set to make their way to the PVL. But first, they had to get their blessing from legendary coach Ramil de Jesus.

The Lady Spikers looked poised to defend their crown after finishing the first round with a 6-1 record. It might not be the ending that the DLSU had hoped for in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament.

While many had hoped that some key Lady Spikers would return in Season 87 for one more year of redemption, Thea Gagate, Julia Coronel, Maicah Larroza, and Leila Cruz decided to apply for the inaugural PVL Draft, which will be held on July 8 at Novotel in Cubao, Quezon City.

During the first-ever PVL Draft Combine, Gagate, who is expected to be the first pick in the draft, recounted how they were able to get permission from legendary coach Ramil de Jesus.

“For us, personally, we politely asked permission to maintain a good relationship with everyone because the volleyball community is really small so we need to maintain a good relationship." Gagate said.
