Choco Mucho team captain Maddie Madayag is set to embark on a new journey after signing with Kurobe Aqua Fairies of the Japan SV.League for the 2024-25 season.

It will be Madayag’s first overseas playing stint, joining outside spiker Lena Stigrot of Germany and opposite hitter Iris Scholten of the Netherlands as Kurobe’s imports.

Choco Mucho has been extremely supportive of Madayag’s opportunity to play for her second professional team as an import.

"Join us in sending our captain, Maddie Madayag, all the best as she takes on Japan with the Kurobe Aqua Fairies!" the Flying Titans announced the development on Monday night, September 2.

"We're incredibly proud of you, Maddie, for seizing this amazing opportunity in your career. Your Choco Mucho Flying Titans fam is with you every step of the way," they added.

The 5-foot-11 middle blocker becomes the third Filipina to join in Japan's top volleyball league following Alas Pilipinas Jia de Guzman of Denso AiryBees and Jaja Santiago, who recently obtained Japanese citizenship, from Osaka Marvelous.

Madayag looks to boost the chances of Kurobe Aqua Fairies as the team finished 11th, tallying a record of 4-18 in the previous V.League Division 1 season.
