Myla Pablo powers Petro Gazz vs Chery Tiggo to remain on top

Myla Pablo was instrumental in the stunning comeback of Petro Gazz against Chery Tiggo, 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-7, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) on Tuesday, January 21, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Pablo, along with Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, played a significant part in the Angels' pivotal runs in the third and fourth sets.

The two of them took the lead in the next two sets after Petro Gazz lost the first two. They worked together to rally the Angels from a 16-7 disadvantage in the third set and to force a decisive run of 10-0 late in the fourth set.

Pablo was named Player of the Game, finishing with 18 points, including three blocks, while Pontillas supplied 18, built from 16 attacks.

Petro Gazz's first five points in the pivotal fifth set were scored by Brooke Van Sickle, who came off the bench to provide the spark. She finished with 10 points and 11 outstanding digs despite playing for a limited time as a precaution due to a minor procedure on her left knee last December.

Chery Tiggo collapsed after taking a two-set lead courtesy of Cza Carandang's 13 markers and Pauline Gaston's 12. Setter Jasmine Nabor scored 10 points and produced 14 strong sets in the losing effort.

Petro Gazz will aim to extend their winning streak when they play against ZUS Coffee on February 4 at the same venue.
