PVL: Julia Coronel leads Galeries Tower first win in Cebu

The No. 3 overall pick in the PVL inaugural draft Julia Coronel scored nine points, highlighted by five service aces, and had 10 excellent sets to lead the Galeries Tower Highrisers to victory against the Capital1 Solar Spikers in a 26-24, 25-14, 25-23 sweep on Saturday, December 7, at the Minglanilla Sports Complex in Cebu.

Galeries Tower showed composure in the opening set as they capitalized on Capital1's miscues to finish it with a slim lead.

In the second set, the Highrisers bunked on their momentum and dominated the Solar Spikers with an 11-point drib.

Galeries stayed on track in a close third-set battle to seal the game with a rare three-set victory.

Jewel Encarnacion top-scored the Highrisers with 11 points while drawing solid support from Ysa Jimenez and Andrea Marzan, who contributed 10 markers apiece, while Ronquillo matched Coronel’s output to underscore the team’s balanced offensive sock.

Meanwhile, Leila Cruz scored 14 points while Jorelle Singh and Guino-o added 10 and five markers, respectively, for the Solar Spikers.

The Highrisers will try to finish the year with a bang as they face the Cherry Tiggo Crossovers on December 14, at the Philsports Arena.
