PVL Reinforced Conference: Akari Chargers outshines Capital1 Solar Spikers
Akari shut down its Pool B opening match against Capital1 in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Thursday, July 18, at PhilSports Arena.
The Chargers outshines the Solar Spikers with American reinforcement Olouma Okaro delivered an instant impact in her debut performance, empowering them to a hard-fought 25-18, 27-25, 22-25, 25-14 victory.
Okaro earned Player of the Game honors with a dominant 16 points built on 14 attacks, while adding a service ace and a block to her statistical line.
Moving to her third team in two years, Ivy Lacsina, formerly of the disbanded F2 Logistics and Nxled, dazzled in her debut game as a Charger with a game-high 20 markers.
Middle blockers Ced Domino and Camille Victoria added seven points, respectively.
Gretchel Soltones, despite only scoring six, made her presence felt on the defensive end with 12 excellent receptions and 12 digs.
Returning Akari libero Dani Ravena posted a conference-opening, delivering 18 digs and 11 receptions.
Russian import Marina Tushova fired 20 points for the Solar Spikers, while PVL second-overall pick Leila Cruz, Shola Alvarez, and Des Clemente aided her with seven apiece.
Roma Doromal, on the other hand, filled the gaps for the Solar Spikers’ defensive deficiencies with 13 digs and seven receptions, though it was still not enough as they still succumbed to a four-setter.
Akari’s next game will be on Tuesday, July 23, against Choco Mucho, while Capital1 will follow against Petro Gazz, at the same venue.
