2024 inaugural PVL draft selections

For the first time in Philippine professional volleyball history, the Premier Volleyball League held its Rookie Draft at the Novotel Hotel in Quezon City Monday night.

23 out of the 47 rookie prospects found new homes in the pros in the inaugural draft with La Salle and Adamson dominating the draft board as seven Lady Spikers and seven Lady Falcons were selected.

The Taft Towers swept the top four with Thea Gagate joining ZUS Coffee as the league’s first-ever number 1 draft pick. 

Fellow La Salle alumna Leila Cruz, Julia Coronel and Maicah Larroza were selected next by Capital1, Galeries Towers and Farm Fresh Foxies, respectively.

University of the Philippines’ Steph Bustrillo landed at sixth with Akari. 

Five of the next six picks were all Adamson standouts with Lucille Almonte chosen by NXLED, Ishie Lalongisip, meanwhile, was picked by Cignal, followed by Angelica Alcantara, Karen Verdeflor and AA Adolfo favored by Cignal, PLDT, Cherry Tiggo and Petro Gazz, respectively.

To wrap up the first round, Arellano University’s middle blocker Lorraine Pecaña was selected by Choco Mucho, while Aleiah Torres from Brock University was added to Creamline.

On the other hand, Gagate was not the lone new Thunderbelle as ZUS Coffee also drafted Adamson middle blocker Sharya Ancheta in the second round and Nikka Yandoc in the third round.

  3. Galeries - Dodee Batindaan
  4. Farm Fresh - Pass
  5. Nxled - Pass
  6. Petro Gazz - Pass

Fourth round:

  1. ZUS Coffee - Pass
  2. Capital1 - Pass
  3. Galeries - Danivah Aying

 

The Reinforced Conference will kick off July 16 at Philippine Sports Arena in Pasig City with Galeries Highrisers taking on the NXLED Chameleons in the first game.
