Valdez leads Creamline past Chery Tiggo to secure Game 1 win

Alyssa Valdez showcased her all-around game, excelling on both offense and defense to help the Creamline Cool Smashers secure a Game 1 win against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the 2024-2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals.

Team captain Valdez delivered a well-rounded performance, tallying 16 points, 13 digs, and nine receptions—earning her Player of the Game honors.

“We wanted to set the tone for the series, but the job is not done yet,” Valdez said. “We got Game 1, but we still have to put in the work.”

Valdez credited Meneses and the coaching staff for keeping the team prepared despite a busy schedule, including opposite spiker Michele Gumabao’s wedding in Baguio.

“Our coaches made sure we wouldn’t get rusty. Coach Sherwin emphasized that when we get back, we have to work hard,” the former PBL MVP shared.

Tots Carlos backstopped her efforts, adding 13 markers and 10 digs, while setter Kyle Negrito facilitated the offense with 20 excellent sets.

Holding a 1-0 advantage, the Cool Smashers will look to secure their semifinal spot with a win on Saturday, March 22, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
